Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally available on a PC. In our Red Dead Redemption 2: Beginner Guide, we’ll give you 13 useful tips and help with the Wild West Open World game.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, you can spend the first hours on tutorial missions, at least in the first chapter.

So you’ve almost inserted a kind of guide directly into the game. But what you have to pay attention to afterward, we summed up in our beginner’s guide to Red Dead Redemption 2 and gave you helpful tips for a great start.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Beginner Guide

Tip 1 – Rushing does not help in Red Dead Redemption 2

As fast as possible, as far as possible, in short mass instead of class. This doesn’t fit so well in Red Dead Redemption 2. You don’t move from shootout to shootout; the fights are more built-in in the Old West game.

There’s a lot to discover and a lot of contact and interaction with other characters that you need to consider getting ahead in the game. Not all can be solved with Red Dead Redemption 2 guns.

The pace of the game is reflected in the gameplay as well. Arthur’s default pace is walking rather than running. Of course, you can hammer the X-(PS4) or the A-Button (Xbox One to move faster or just get on your horse.

However, if you are exploring abandoned yards or searching for anything, we suggest that you use the usual speed so that you don’t miss something important.

New missions in Red Dead Redemption 2 are labeled with a yellow circle on the map. Of course, you can go hunting or check your camp, too.

Every conversation around the campfire, or every interaction, can be crucial. If you happen to run into someone without apologizing, it can easily turn into a brawl.

Tip 2 – Collect The Loot

There are two killings in the first chapter of Red Dead Redemption 2. Take your time in the scenes, look out for your enemies, and ignore the people asking you to rush.

Pillage any corpse you find in the game. All in all, in chapter 1 of Red Dead Salvation 2, there’s a sum of $30 and plenty of ammunition for you to get. The lootable bodies are labeled with a black X on the globe. You can be sure you don’t forget or miss something this way.

When you hunt for houses in Red Dead Redemption 2, look at every cabinet, wardrobe, and chimney (Yes, really the chimney-where that’s money is always hidden.) You’re not always going to find money, but you’re going to find enough for tiny or major hunger.

You can also donate these provisions to the camp to support your gang. In Red Dead Redemption 2, you can loot everything except innocent people.

You have killed a bunch of gang members; you can loot them without consequences, but killing innocent people will have a negative effect on game development.

For example, if you commit a robbery and then eliminate the witnesses, your honor will be affected negatively, and looting will also have negative consequences.

Tip 3 – Change the camera angle

You can change the different camera angles of Red Dead Redemption 2 at any time, which will give you advantages in the game if used cleverly.

By pressing the touchpad (PS4) or the view button (Xbox One), you can switch through the perspectives, which consist of third-person angles in three distances (near, middle, and far) and a first-person mode.

Third-Person is the default setting in Red Dead Redemption 2, and you’ll be fine with it in most cases.

However, if you are indoors or are looting someone, switching to the first-person mode is useful. This will make it easier for you to find and pick up items in Red Dead Redemption 2.

This view also makes it easier to control vehicles such as horse-drawn carriages. Cinema mode is another mode that can also be set via the settings. If you feel like long rides, enjoying the scenery, or exploring, we recommend this mode.

Tip 4 – Important Lesson in Red Dead Redemption 2: Learning by doing

In Red Dead Redemption 2, you don’t learn everything you need to know in the first three hours of the game.

Even after 30 hours of playing, you still learn something. Many missions or side quests reveal a surprising result, which you will have to deal with afterward. Most of the chapters contain a variety of missions, all of which bring new insights.

Tip 5 – Debt collection and general ledger

A mission in the second chapter of Red Dead Redemption 2 brings the collection mechanism with it. You can blackmail farmers to get some money. Also, the general ledger is unlocked, where you can upgrade your stock.

These features are not announced or explained in Red Dead Redemption 2, but if you find something too complicated or you don’t know how to use it, just do more missions. Sooner or later, the function will be explained in a mission.

Tip 6 – More than important in Red Dead Redemption 2: The horse

Your horse is always there for you and always at your side. Red Dead Redemption 2 offers you a total of 200 different breeds of horses with different characteristics.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Beginner Guide

In every city, you can buy horses, or you can go out into nature and try to tame a wild mustang. Of course, it is tempting to get a new mount as soon as possible. But this is not necessarily the best decision.

You can improve your horse’s characteristics by interacting in Red Dead Redemption 2. Health and endurance will increase as your pet, brush, and feed your horse. You don’t have to work forever, your horse is quite thankful, and the values will increase relatively quickly.

If you buy or catch a new horse, you have to start all over again. That’s why we recommend that you stick with your standard animal for now and change over later in the game. Finally, the elite horses are waiting for you in the later game: very rare, very expensive, but worth every single effort.

Tip 7 – Red Dead Redemption 2 and its protocol

There are all sorts of things to do in the west of Red Dead Redemption 2: missions from friends and gang members, bounties, or the search for collectibles.

So it can be difficult to keep everything in mind. Yellow dots show you the main missions, white dots, the side missions. The initials show you which character is connected to this mission.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s map is good for keeping an eye on everything, but you quickly lose track. You can use the +Control Pad to open the log, which gives you more information about the different missions. There you can see a list of your tasks, challenges, or notifications.

Tip 8 – Forbidden areas

Early on in Red Dead Redemption 2, there are areas where there is a high price on your head. A multitude of bounty hunters is just waiting for you to come by for a drink.

You can’t fire a gun in these areas without drawing attention to yourself. But there are other areas in the wild that you should avoid; otherwise, you might get a couple of cougars trying to eat you. So take your time and avoid these areas for now in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Tip 9 – Your character

In Red Dead Redemption 2, there are exactly three things you need to worry about: Health, Stamina, and Dead-Eye.

Use the trait you want to improve. If you want to improve your stamina, explore more places. Eating something improves your health. Training with a pistol improves your Dead-Eye. Each activity brings you XP, which will improve your skills over time.

Tip 9 - Your character

Tip 10 – Use Camp Upgrades

There are many improvements that you can make in the camp, and you should definitely do the same in Red Dead Redemption 2.

For example, a chicken coop ($175) that gives the camp a constant Dead Eye bonus. If you want to use fast travel without the help of a train or carriage, you will need to upgrade Dutch’s tent first, then Arthur’s.

However, you should spend the money on your main character first. If you have any money left over, invest it in the camp.

Tip 11 – The Gun Wheel

After you get off the horse, you should compare your equipment with the equipment in your saddlebags and check what you need for the mission. If you hold down L1, you can see the equipment in the bags.

You can equip the following weapons:

  1. Sidearms: pistols and other one-handed firearms
  2. Fists
  3. Knives
  4. Longarm back: The first longarm slot (bows or shotguns)
  5. Throwables: explosives etc.
  6. Longarm shoulder: The second longarm slot

Think carefully about the weapons you need for your Red Dead Redemption 2 quest. If you try to do something secretly, the bow is recommended in any case. When you’re preparing for a fight, think about a short and long-range weapon.

Tip 12 – This is how submersion works in Red Dead Redemption 2

Scarves disguise your identity in Red Dead Redemption 2 and can be found in the bottom left corner of the item wheel. If you want to start a robbery, it’s better to put on the scarf so you won’t be recognized, and your bounty won’t go up.

However, there are many other things and activities to discover in the western hit from Rockstar Games. For example, you can simply go fishing.

And animals are a good keyword because there are plenty of them in the Open World adventure. But some of them are very special.
